Girl’s Weekend in Granbury, Texas

I’m in Granbury, Texas enjoying the wonderful company of my girlfriends and the beautiful countryside of Granbury.    Girl’s weekends are the best, we get together,  shop, eat, drink, and talk about anything and everything under the sun.    They are a great way to relax, unwind and to tell your girl friends about your problems because you know it will never go beyond that weekend.    Remember what is said at girl’s weekend, stays at girl’s weekend!

We all met through  work, where we all in the IT(Information Technology) at BFI.    We have been there for each other through babies, marriages, kids, grandkids, divorce, new jobs etc.    We have been doing this since 2001 and hopefully we will keep going.    I love these ladies!

Our typical weekend starts off by meeting at someone’s house and then we car pool to the bed and breakfast.    We then traveled to Huntsville to pick up Leesa and had lunch at the Farmhouse in Huntsville.    It was so good and the portions were huge!    Everyone enjoyed the cozy downhome atmosphere of the restaurant.   Of course we make stops along the way, and this time we stopped in Centerville Texas where Laura just purchased 30 acres where she will build her  retirement home.     We  went up to the property and saw where she had staked out the land where she wants to build her new house.   The view is spectacular and she is excited about getting the project started.   I am so happy for her.

We get to Granbury and meet up with the other girls at the bed and breakfast.      We do our typical Friday night – we walk about 2 blocks to dinner then go back to the B&B for a night of wine and mexican train.    What fun!

Saturday morning we have a delicious gourmet breakfast served by the inn keepers, David and Yvonne.    The first course was a strawberry stuffed crepe, followed by homemade applewood sausage, southwestern egg casserole and home fried potatoes with peppers and onions.    After that we went in the car to a beading class, where we all made our own pieces of jewelry.     I was totally out of my element but the two employees were great and helped us out a lot.  Everyone made a piece that reflected their own personality.     I will post pictures later.   (for some reason I am having difficulty posting pictures).

After that we came back to Granbury, had lunch in the town square then went shopping!    We were tired after that, rested a bit then went to see Godspell at the Granbury Opera House.     It was a nice theatre that has recently been renovated.    We all enjoyed the musical and had a great time.

Sunday morning we were treated to another great breakfast.     The first course was a vanilla souffle, and it was to die for.     The second course was creme brulee french toast, along with scrambled eggs in a nest of shredded zuccini.   It was beautiful.      We packed up then went to “junk it”, which was like a craft/flea market in Granbury.    I purchased some wrought iron items for my yard.    There was a huge selection of items for everyone.    After this we headed on back home.    It was a great weekend!
