I am now in Boston for a three day vacation with my husband! We flew in Saturday September 13 around noon, then took a water taxi to the Fairmont Battery Wharf hotel. The water taxi was fun, it was a small boat that took us from Logan Airport Continue reading Boston

Girl’s Weekend in Granbury, Texas
I’m in Granbury, Texas enjoying the wonderful company of my girlfriends and the beautiful countryside of Granbury. Girl’s weekends are the best, we get together, shop, eat, drink, and talk about anything and everything under the sun. They are a great way to relax, unwind and Continue reading Girl’s Weekend in Granbury, Texas
Touring Vegas
Vegas is definitely all that it’s advertised to be. It really is a neon city. Next time I want to go to Freemont Street and see the older casinos lit up at night. It was great during the day but I’m sure it’s spectacular at night. It’s been a fun filled two and a half days in Vegas so far. What have I accomplished Continue reading Touring Vegas
At the Airport
We are now at the airport waiting to board our flight to Pittsburgh. It’s only 5:46 am and our flight is at 7:19 am, but my husband is always early so therefore so am I! It’s actually quite peaceful here because there’s hardly any people here. About half of them are sleeping in the chairs and the others are reading the morning paper.
Some of my list of favorite things to do in Pittsburgh are:
1. Visit relatives and friends
2. Minerva Bakery in McKeesport (ok I’m going here directly from the airport!)
3. Eat & Park for breakfast
4. Casinos
5. Garage sales and estate sales
Right now there is a big duck in Pittsburgh that I think is docked at Point State Park. I would like to go on Saturday and take pictures. After garage and estate sales of course! The duck is schedule to leave on Sunday, but I hope it is still there when the Steelers play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. I will have to find out.
I cannot wait to get a chocolate cake with white icing and chocolate sprinkles from Minerva’s Bakery! I can just taste it, it is so good. Regional bakeries are my favorites because the cakes and pastries are baked with old family recipes that are tried and true. I grew up with Minerva’s Bakery (it was a treat then) and only re-discovered it a few years ago. Why it took me so long I don’t know, but I’m glad I did. My Mom and I were driving down 5th Avenue in McKeesport and I saw it and we decided to stop. What a great decision! Love, love love Minerva’s!
Ok – gate change! I was in E21 and someone just said the sign changed to “Cancun” instead of “Pittsburgh” We all started going to the departure board and sure enough the gate changed to C22, which is on the other side of the airport. I found an electric cart and we hopped a ride over to the new gate. We are now at the correct gate (hopefully) and should be boarding soon.
It’s a great day!
Getting Ready to Travel
In a few days I will be traveling to Pittsburgh to visit my Mom. I grew up in a small town south east of Pittsburgh called McKeesport. It was a great place to grow up and after college we moved to Houston, Texas, where we still live in a suburb called Sugar Land. I miss Pennsylvania – the scenery in Western Pennsylvania is beautiful and I’m hoping the leaves are changing colors.
One of the reasons for this trip is to take child #4 to his first visit to Heinz Field to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens. It was a Christmas present last year and he is so excited to go. The tickets were delivered today, he has his Steeler jersey and can’t wait until kickoff. My husband is also excited about the game and we are hoping the Steelers will have their second victory of the season. I’m not going to this outing – it’s going to be a father and son event. My Mom and I will watch it from her house. Go Steelers!
It’s going to be a crazy week and weekend but I’m looking forward to it!
